A&M Scholastic Competition for Disappearing Roads in Environmentally Sensitive Areas

Global Petroleum Research Institute at Texas A&M University is accepting entries for the Environmental Drilling Project -Disappearing Roads Contest. The category of environmentally sensitive land for this year's competition is coastal wetlands. The problem being addressed is how to move people and materials to and from work sites (such as oil and gas drill sites) with minimal environmental impact. The top prize is $10,000 to the team of engineering and environmental students with a winning design.
Each team will consist of at least three students and a faculty advisor. The team members should have multidisciplinary backgrounds that encompass engineering and environmental studies. The competition will be managed by Texas A&M Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Petroleum Engineering, and the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences. Representatives from academia, oil and gas industry, U.S. National Park Lands and environmental organizations will serve on the judging panel.
