Discussion to focus on solar energy

David Riley, director of the Center for Sustainability and associate professor of architectural engineering, will present "Here Comes the Sun: The Business Case for the Solar Energy – Reframing the Energy Policy Debate in Pennsylvania and Beyond" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, in 22 Dieke Building, University Park.
The event is free to the public.
Riley will talk about advances in solar energy technology and business models. The discussion will include the potential of solar energy to create green collar jobs, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the promotion of smart and sustainable communities.
After the presentation, Riley will be joined by Gerald Susman and Susan Stewart for a panel discussion on the topic. Susman is the associate dean for research in the Smeal College of Business, the Robert and Judith Klein Professor of Management and director of the Center for the Management of Technological and Organizational Change. Stewart is a research associate in the Applied Research Laboratory's Energy Science and Power Systems Division.
The event is the third in the "Reframing Critical Policy Debates" series, sponsored by the Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment and the University's Social Science Research Institute.
